Endorsement: Silvestri for Cook County Board, District 9

Cook County Board District 9 Republican incumbent Peter Silvestri of Elmwood Park is campaigning for a seventh term. In a rematch of the contest four years ago, his Democratic opponent is Frank McPartlin, of Elmwood Park, a special assistant in Cook County's Bureau of Administration. Last time out, we endorsed Silvestri, a longtime public servant with credentials that include school boards, zoning boards, church boards and numerous county board committees,

as a hard worker who has been a consistent advocate for change on the county board. He won that election with about 63 percent of the vote. His answers to the candidate questionnaire and in an interview are wise and informed. We endorse him for another term.
