Chinese educators to visit District 93 schools

Twenty educational delegates from Beijing, China, will visit Community Consolidated School District 93 next week through the 21st Century Institute's Educational Ambassador Program.

The institute chose District 93 as a tour location because of its reputation for shifting its educational delivery system from an outdated factory model to a more personalized approach.

By focusing more on personalization, District 93 is not only able to meet the needs of students who come from increasingly diverse cultural backgrounds, but also to meet students' diverse learning styles and needs.

The delegation consists of Chinese teachers, principals and other administrators who will visit District 93 schools and spend time with administrators to learn about the district's educational delivery system.

District 93 administrators will share the ways in which the district has systematically rethought how its students are taught, the tools they use to learn, and the spaces in which they are educated.

The delegates will observe student learning at two elementary schools and one middle school, including its newest learning spaces: the Innovation Center and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) Wing at Stratford Middle School in Bloomingdale.

The versatile learning spaces were designed to include embedded technology, movable and flexible furniture, inspiring colors, and natural lighting to enable students to thrive and meet their needs now and into the future.

District 93 is an elementary district that serves students in preschool through eighth grade from Carol Stream, Bloomingdale, and Hanover Park.
