Mount Prospect man dies when motorcycle hits car

A Mount Prospect man died Tuesday after his motorcycle collided with a car in Mount Prospect, police said.

The crash happened just before 9 p.m. near the intersection of Algonquin Road and Dempster Street, police said in a news release. Jason Alexander, 33, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police believe Alexander was driving his motorcycle west on Algonquin Road in the curb lane, and a Toyota Corolla traveling eastbound on Algonquin Road attempted to turn left into a private drive. Alexander's motorcycle struck the Toyota, which was being driven by a 23-year-old woman from Mount Prospect, who was uninjured.

Witnesses told police that Alexander's motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed just prior to the crash.

The Mount Prospect Police Department continues to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call (847) 870-5656.
