Incumbents elected to Des Plaines Elementary District 62

Four incumbents won seats on the Des Plaines Elementary District 62 school board, according to unofficial election results Tuesday.

Five candidates sought four 4-year terms open on the school board.

Board President Stephanie Duckmann, Vice President James Poskozim and members Ronald Burton and Brian Inzerello were re-elected to 4-year terms.

Daniel Bachar, a coordinator for blended learning and intervention analytics at Maine Township High School District 207, was edged out for the final spot.

A 2-year term on the school board remains unfilled after no candidates emerged for the seat. Board members will appoint someone to fill the seat after the election.

According to unofficial results, Duckmann led the race with 3,722 votes followed by Burton with 3,250; Inzerello with 3,151; and Poskozim with 2,979. Bachar received 2,879 votes.

The school board race was amiable, with candidates largely agreeing on most issues. The candidates predicted the district would face tough decisions as a result of the state budget impasse and potential reforms to the way Illinois funds education.
