Cubs postcard: Rain washes out field work

MESA, Ariz. - Saturday was hardly a picture-postcard day at the Cubs' Sloan Park facility.

Rain showers washed out all outdoor activity, with players taking to the indoor cages to get their work in. Manager Joe Maddon was OK with that.

"The last thing I want to do is to worry about a day's work right now at the expense of getting somebody hurt," he said. "Crazy. Absolutely insane. So we will react accordingly. We'll do what we can. There's no consternation. There's no concern. It's just the way it is. It's raining."
