Water Street Studios to open new exhibit: 'Sergio Gomez & Mario Gonzalez Jr.'

Water Street Studios' Main Dempsey Family Gallery will be displaying the artwork of two internationally recognized painters - Sergio Gomez and Mario Gonzalez Jr.

Gomez and Gonzalez will exhibit paintings on which they collaborated, as well as works they created individually. Gomez's work explores the human form as an anonymous representation of the self, and reflects his interest in examining human and spiritual experiences throughout the cycles of life.

Gonzalez, also know as Zore, grew up in Chicago, where he was exposed to and influenced by urban art forms, such as graffiti. Mario's work has culminated into a style that melds urban graffiti art and abstract expressionism.

The opening reception will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10. In addition to viewing the work and meeting the artists who created it, there will also be live music, open artist studios, free appetizers provided by Gaetano's Restaurant, and a bar featuring beer from Solemn Oath Brewery and wine provided by Bright Angel Wines during the opening. A special thank you to our gallery event sponsor K. Hollis Jewelers.

The exhibit will continue until March 5.

Dave Martin will be exhibiting a number of his recent watercolor paintings in the Kane County Chronicle gallery, on the second floor at Water Street Studios. Opening reception will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10.

The shows at both galleries will be on view during regular gallery hours from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, at 160 S. Water Street in Batavia.
