Rauner to sign executive order today at COD

Gov. Bruce Rauner plans to sign an executive order today at the College of DuPage that's aimed at cutting bureaucratic red tape. Staff from the Winnetka Republican's office confirmed that Rauner plans to visit the Glen Ellyn campus at 10:30 a.m. Full story.

Barrington walk raises thousands to fight hunger

Almost 200 people walked through Barrington neighborhoods yesterday to help raise awareness and money for efforts to fight hunger as part of the 34th annual Barrington Area CROP Walk. Twenty-five percent of the funds are kept locally to help people in need, said Laura Cerretani, the event's chairwoman. Full story.

Families mark Day of the Dead in Gurnee

Children decorated ornate sugar skulls while their parents learned about one of the most popular days in Latino culture yesterday when Academia Cultural Xilotl of Waukegan hosted its Day of the Dead workshop at the Warren-Newport Public Library in Gurnee. Full story.
