Buona Beef hopeful for November opening in Algonquin

You're going to have to wait at least another month to enjoy the savory Italian beef, hot fries and other fast food favorites from the new Buona Beef along Randall Road.

While many were hoping for a sooner opening after seeing the progress of the construction on the new building on the east side of Randall Road in Algonquin, Buona Beef representatives say that location won't open until next month.

"We're still waiting on a final date for November," said Matt Hensler, director of integrated marketing communication for Blast Marketing & PR, which does marketing for Buona Beef.

The restaurant, with a drive-through, will open at 461 S. Randall Road, just to the south of the existing Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant, north of Algonquin State Bank, and to the north of Bunker Hill Drive.

Plans had originally called for the restaurant to open this past spring, but now it looks as if it will open closer to Thanksgiving.

Buona Beef is a family-owned business that started in Berwyn. It has 17 locations throughout Chicagoland.

Buona Beef recently opened its first location within the city of Chicago this past spring. Buona Beef officials have said they plan to continue to expand, and hope to open five new restaurants each year for the next five years.

In the Fox Valley, there is a Buona Beef in St. Charles at 2425 W. Main St.

In addition to the Italian beef sandwiches and fast food it serves up, the restaurant also has salads, pepper and egg sandwiches, beer and wine.

Halloween stories:

With October upon us, the Barnes and Noble along Randall Road in Geneva has planned some not-so-spooky storytimes and activities for the month.

On Saturday, Oct. 22, there will be a special Halloween storytime at 11 a.m. at the store, 102 Commons Drive, in Geneva.

Kids will hear the story of "Little Blue Truck," who is back and picking up his friends for a Halloween party.

They will also get to hear "I Need My Monster," which tells the story of a monster who is normally under the bed, but who has gone fishing instead. There also will be activities to go along with the stories.

The Barnes and Noble in Geneva also hosts weekly storytimes for kids - geared toward ages 8 and younger - at 10:30 a.m. Mondays and Thursdays.

Many of the storytimes this month are likely to feature a Halloween tale or two, representatives in the children's area said.

After hearing the stories, children are always invited to stay for a coloring activity, chalk art or another type of craft.
