Girls volleyball: Grayslake Central bounces Barrington
Lauren LaBeck had 11 kills, 10 assists and 2 aces, and Grayslake Central's girls volleyball team rallied past visiting Barrington 21-25, 25-14, 25-21 in a nonconference match on Wednesday night.
Cassidy Beshel added 4 kills and 2 blocks, and Michelle Maraist contributed 4 kills and 2 aces for the Rams. Abby Marassa and Morgan Anderberg racked up 16 and 13 digs, respectively, for Grayslake Central (3-4). Lizzie Twardock dished out 12 assists, and Amber Moser posted a pair of blocks.
"This was a great match for our team against a very scrappy and aggressive Barrington team," Rams coach Jason Janczak said. "We played very well in all aspects of the match. It was a fun match and quality win for us tonight."
Lakes d. Deerfield: Katie Billetdeaux and McKenna Lahr each pounded 7 kills, and the host Eagles won 25-19, 25-14 in a nonconference match.
Lakes also received 4 kills from Erica Grant and three apiece from Kelly Zeason and Kaylee Lebron. Paige Bartlett posted a team-best 9 digs, while Lahr and Rachel Orpano had six. Grant, Lahr and Orpano each served 2 aces.
Warren d. Wauconda: Claire Lundtveit rang up 7 kills, 8 digs and 2 aces, as the host Blue Devils won 25-13, 25-20.
Warren (6-2) also received contributions from Natalie McNally (2 aces, 4 kills, 8 digs), Allison Maan da Kok (8 assists) and Hanna Barbosa (5 digs).
Wauconda (3-5) received 4 kills apiece from Hayley Redmann, Lauren Sexton and Nicole Carazas. Jane Sakowicz had 12 digs. Carazas also delivered 2 aces.
Leyden d. Vernon Hills: The Cougars lost 25-21, 22-25, 25-23, despite Taylor Harte's 9 kills.
Vernon Hills (1-2) also received 7 kills from Kayla Caudle, 26 assists from Caralynn Orbell and 19 digs from Selin Kirali.
