Wauconda's Street Dance to help hungry

Wauconda's 17th Annual Street Dance and Food Drive will take place from 4-11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, on Main Street in Wauconda.

The event will include music, food and drink, kids activities and a Teen Scene at the beach.

Firefighter Water Fights will take place at 3 p.m. at Mill and Main streets.

Music and entertainment will be presented on three different stages. The Sharp Auto Stage will feature the Louie Sharp Band at 4:30 p.m., Mariachi Juvenil Padre Cuevas at 6 p.m., the Wauconda High School Marching Band at 6:30 p.m., the Mayor's Community Service Awards at 7 p.m. Better With Bacon at 7:15 p.m. and Hudson McCoy at 9:30 p.m. The Mill Street Stage will have John Lambert at 3:30 p.m. the Mike Novello and Ben Kane Acoustic Explosion at 5 p.m. and DuJour Trio at 8:30 p.m. The Teen Scene Stage will feature DJ Mikey Mike from 7-10 p.m.

A 50/50 raffle drawing will take place at 9 p.m., and tickets are available now at the Wauconda Area Chamber of Commerce for $5 each or three for $10 (winner need not be present).

Volunteers are being sought for kids bouncy house attendants and water and pop sales on Main Street at the Teen Scene on the beach. To volunteer, call (847) 526-5580.

Several food collection locations have been established in conjunction with the event. Drop-off donations before Friday, Sept. 2. Wauconda Collection locations include: Acres Group, Bulldogs Restaurant, Middleton's on Main, Ryan & Company Realtors, Threads, Vickie's Personal Touch, Wauconda village hall, the Wauconda Area Chamber of Commerce, Wauconda Bowl & Bar and the Wauconda Community Bank.
