Give political mapmaking back to citizens
I am one of the 567,000 Illinois voters who signed the petition to create a transparent independent commission to draw the voting maps for Illinois. Currently, career politicians go behind closed doors to rig the system in their favor.
The maps are drawn so the politician can pick their voters rather than the voters picking their representative. Currently, the amendment is in front of the Illinois Supreme Court to determine if it meets the constitutional requirements.
My desire is that the court will rule in favor of the citizens of Illinois. Remove the responsibility from the career politicians and put it back into the hands of the citizens.
The independent Map Amendment is the solution. It will require a process of drawing voting maps for Illinois that is transparent, impartial and fair.
