Car falls off carrier, pins driver who fell out in Schaumburg

A 63-year-old Tennessee man suffered leg and minor head injuries at a Schaumburg auto dealer Wednesday afternoon after being pinned under a car he fell out of while trying to back it off a car carrier trailer.

The man was conscious while being freed from the car and taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village with nonlife-threatening injuries, Schaumburg police Sgt. Christy Lindhurst said.

The accident was reported at about 12:20 p.m. at CarMax, 250 E. Golf Road.

Police said the car was being taken off the carrier trailer when it missed the ramp and struck another car that was parked. The impact caused the driver to fall or be thrown from the vehicle he was operating. That vehicle then rolled over onto him and trapped one of his legs, Lindhurst said.
