With renovations complete, Woodfield Mall gets new general manager

Fresh off its $13.9 million facelift in 2015, Schaumburg's Woodfield Mall will soon have a new general manager in Kurt Webb, a six-year employee of parent company Simon Property Group.

Webb's time with Simon has included taking part in several renovation projects, as well as management of shopping centers in Washington, Texas, Florida and California. His most recent assignment was general manager of The Shops at Mission Viejo in California.

“We're thrilled to welcome Kurt as the new general manager at Woodfield Mall,” Simon Regional Vice President Melissa Palencia said in a written statement. “With nearly a decade of experience in management, business development, leasing, retail and marketing, Kurt will be a great asset to the center, which continues to evolve during a significant center-wide transformation with new retail and dining options.”

Webb had not yet arrived at his new assignment Tuesday and was not available for comment.

He succeeds David Gott, who was the first general manager of Woodfield after Simon took over the now 45-year-old shopping mall in January 2013.

Gott oversaw last year's Woodfield renovations, which featured a significant redesign of the mall's center court, including the addition of modern glass railings and ceramic flooring, a new large-capacity elevator and two escalators. Upgrades also were made to the seating areas and flooring throughout the mall.

Gott recently moved on to Simon's larger Sawgrass Mills shopping center in Sunrise, Florida, just outside Fort Lauderdale.
