Schaumburg prescription drug program hits milestone

The village of Schaumburg has reached the milestone of collecting more than 10,000 pounds of unused medication.

Since 2009, the village has participated in the DuPage County Health Department's "Green Initiatives" RxBox Program, providing residents a safe, easy way to discard unwanted medication.

When not properly disposed of, unused medication is a risk to families, the community and the environment.

The Schaumburg RxBox is located in the lobby of the Schaumburg Police Department, 1000 W. Schaumburg Road, and is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to drop off unused prescription and over-the-counter medication.
