Baseball: Neuqua Valley, ICCP, Downers North win

Neuqua Valley 3, Bolingbrook 2:

Tim Schneider's two-out, 2-run double spotted the Wildcats (22-13) to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, a lead that grew to 3-0 in the second inning on James Gargano's RBI double. Neuqua Valley will play Naperville Central in Saturday's Class 4A Bolingbrook regional final. Ryan Wheeler went 3-for-3 as James Kulak picked up the win and Connor Rektorski the save.

IC Catholic Prep 4, Latin 2:

The Knights advanced to the Class 2A Lisle sectional title game. They'll play DePaul College Prep, a 14-5 winner over Timothy Christian, at 11 a.m. Saturday at Benedictine University.

Downers North 10, Hinsdale South 2:

The 15th-seeded Trojans (18-18) shook up the Class 4A Plainfield East regional with a victory over second-seeded Hinsdale South (29-7) in the semifinals. They'll face Friday's winner between Oswego and Plainfield East in Saturday's title game. James Krick and Dallton Baran, who went 3-for-4, each drove in 3 runs. David Giuliano homered and Tyler Rosen pitched a 2-hitter.

Montini 10, Noble Street Charter 0:

The Broncos (21-14) ended the Class 3A Montini regional semifinal game by scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the fifth. They'll face Friday's winner between Elmwood Park and Noble/Golder on Saturday. Nick Steiner doubled twice and drove in 2 runs. Cooper Hynes went 2-for-3 and Alex Luka had 2 RBI. Bruno Bodnum struck out six in a 1-hitter.

Glenbard South 21, Foreman 0:

A 7-run bottom of the first powered the Raiders (16-17) to victory in the Class 3A Benet regional semifinals. Lucas Lorusso and winning pitcher Christian Dupuis had 3 hits while Dan Opem drove in 4 runs.

St. Charles North 16, Glenbard North 4:

The Panthers surrendered 8 first-inning runs while falling in the Class 4A Hoffman Estates regional semifinals. Nick Frawley and Mark Cerabona each had 2 hits. Frawley drove in 2 runs.

Waubonsie Valley 7, Yorkville 7:

The Class 4A Downers Grove South regional semifinal game was suspended due to darkness after 12 innings. The Warriors (22-11) and Foxes will continue the game at 3 p.m. Friday, followed by the other semifinal between Downers South and Plainfield Central.
