Wheaton boy severely injured by car

A 6-year-old boy sustained serious, critical injuries when he was struck by a car on the 1200 block of Taft St. in Wheaton, police said late Wednesday night.

Lt. Bill Cooley said that boy ran in front of the car, which was eastbound, at around 3:55 p.m.

Cooley said the boy was rushed to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.

He said the crash is under investigation by Wheaton Police and by the DuPage County Accident Reconstruction Task Force.

"There is no indication at this time that the driver was at fault," Cooley said.

Cooley said the boy lives in a house near where the accident happened.
