Girls soccer: Kaneland racks up another shutout

Kaneland 1, DeKalb 0: Emily Chapman tallied her 13th shutout in net and Kiandra Powell's late goal in the 77th minute lifted the Knights (13-3-1, 3-1-1) to a win over the Barbs in Northern Illinois Big 12 East action. Gabby Cano was credited with the assist.

St. Charles North 6, Divine Savior Holy Angels (WI) 2: Gia Wahlberg led the way with 2 goals while Amanda Czerniak, Lauren Muzzalupo, Lauren Neslund, Morgan Rerko all notched goals in a win at the Tournament of Champions in Burlington, IA. Hailey Rydberg totaled 2 assists and Jordan Jordan Karom and Elli Wahlberg each had 1. Goalies Sami Sample and Leanne Stahulak each made 1 save for the North Stars (11-2).

Elgin 3, St. Edward 1: Hayly Munoz had 1 goal and 1 assist as the Maroons (6-10) recorded a nonconference win over the Green Wave. Guadalupe Sanchez and Marceci Santiago also scored for Elgin while Makenna Downing dished 2 assists and keeper Hannah Erickson collected 5 saves.

Harvest Christian 4, Schaumburg Christian 0: Ellie Burzlaff's 2 goals and 1 assist helped the Lions (6-6-1) get the nonconference win. Rebecca Gafrick and Nicole Ahrens added goals while Jessica Olsen tallied 2 assists.

CL South 7, McHenry 0: The combo of Samantha Sisto and Jenna Ross connected twice for the Gators (11-5, 4-0) in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win. Sisto finished with 2 goals while Ross tallied 1 goal and 2 assists. Jess Schoenfeldt had 2 goals while Brandie Minogue had 1 goal and 1 assist. Katherine Siavelis scored 1 goal and Courtney Sengstock, Emily Warren and Jennifer Luken each had assists while Annika Sevcik recorded a shutout.

South Elgin 1, Wheaton North 1: Ella Struwing capitalized on Ari Walters' second half corner kick to tie the Falcons in nonconference action. Jackie DeLaMora made 10 keeper saves to preserve the tie for the Storm (6-7-2).

Latin 5, Elgin Academy 0: Despite 14 saves from Sophie Borchart, the Hilltoppers (1-6) couldn't come up with an Independent School League win.
