Two Elgin homes hit by gunfire, West Chicago man arrested:

Eric Juarez, 18, of the 100 block of West Blair Street in West Chicago was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm after two Elgin homes were struck by gunfire Saturday night, police said. Officers were in the 400 block of Douglas Avenue at about 11:57 p.m. Saturday when they heard gunshots and saw Juarez running. Full story.

Niles woman dies after grandson accidentally hits her with minivan:

A 79-year-old Niles woman was killed Saturday night after her teenage grandson accidentally hit the gas pedal of her minivan and struck her, police said.

Kuem S. Cho died at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she was transported after officers responded at about 9 p.m. Saturday to a parking lot in the 9200 block of North Maryland Street for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Full story

Possible human skull found near Round Lake:

Lake County authorities are investigating the discovery of possible human skull Saturday in an abandoned structure near Round Lake. A caretaker of the site in the 33100 block of North Fairfield Drive found the remains while removing items from a shed on the property, according to Lake County Sheriff's police. Full story.

Aurora Township Clerk Ken Christy remembered for energy, dedication to job:

Ken Christy was remembered Sunday for his large personality and boundless dedication to his roles as Aurora Township clerk and president of the Illinois State Association of Letter Carriers. The 71-year-old longtime Aurora resident died at a hospital Saturday surrounded by his family. "He really sort of lived in fifth gear. He could have taken it easy in his 70s, but he worked tirelessly because he believed in the cause very much."Aurora Township Supervisor Bill Catching said. Full story.
