Students to celebrate Black History Month

On Thursday, Feb. 18, Fearn Elementary School will host a family night from 6 to 7:16 p.m. to celebrate Black History Month.

Students will be sharing presentations about influential African-Americans they have researched at the school, 1600 Hawksley Lane in North Aurora.

Families and members of the community are welcome to attend and circulate the gymnasium to listen to presentations.

The keynote speaker for the evening will be Sherman Jenkins.

Jenkins is the former executive director of the Aurora Economic Development Commission and was named the 2015 Outstanding African American of the Year by the Aurora African-American Heritage Advisory Board.
