Suburban Old Country Buffet restaurants survive closings

Amid a spate of closings nationwide, Old Country Buffet restaurants in Arlington Heights and Bloomingdale remain open.

Parent company Ovation Brands last week announced the permanent closure of 74 underperforming Old Country Buffet, Hometown Buffet, Ryan's, Fire Mountain and Country Buffet restaurants nationwide, according to RestaurantNews.com.

According to the company's website, the only two suburban locations are in Arlington Heights and Bloomingdale.

"While we cannot predict future market conditions, the plan is to continue operating the remaining Ovation Brands' restaurants as they are financially viable," per a statement from Peter Donbavand, vice president of business development. "We will be adding staff to the operating restaurants, enabling us to provide the service levels our guests expect and deserve."
