Maine West remains unbeaten in CSL North

Maine West's girls basketball team took another step forward in quest of the Central Suburban North title by remaining undefeated with three games left.

The Warriors (15-6, 7-0) notched their second win over Maine East 54-39 on Friday night in Des Plaines.

Sophomore Allison Pearson (15 points, 3 rebounds), freshman Rachel Kent (10 points, 4 rebounds)and sophomore Catherine Johnson (5 points, 9 rebounds) helped lead the way.

Pearson tied her season-high point total.

Maine West host Brooks today at 3 p.m. and visits Elk Grove on Monday at 7 p.m.

Elk Grove 43, Prospect 31: With senior Sarah Pauscher connecting for a game-high 21 points and classmate Alex Masnica adding 9, visiting Elk Grove (3-16, 1-5) notched its first win in the MSL East.

Mackenzie Flannery added 6 points for the Grens, who were able to pull away at the end by outscoring Prospect 15-7 in the final quarter.

Nikki Matters (11 points) and Angela Roman (9) led Prospect (7-15, 1-5).

Fremd 65, Conant 28: Seniors Bryana Hopkins (14 points), Brianna Lewis (12) and Amanda McCartney (10) were top scorers for Fremd (19-2, 6-0) in the MSL West game in Hoffman Estates.

Senior Karli Heneghan led the Cougars (8-12, 24) with 8 points (two 3-pointers).

Rolling Meadows 44, Wheeling 19: Kyra Spiwak (11 points), Morgan Campagna (9) and Katherine Nolan (8) led host Rolling Meadows in the MSL East match.

Melissa Spiwak and Megan King each had 3-pointers for RM (15-7, 4-2)

"I was proud of our kids' effort on the defensive end," said Meadows coach Ryan Kirkorsky. "I thought our three seniors (Megan King, Hannah Mickey and Meghan Slowik) played really well on senior night."

Junior Melissa Claver led Wheeling (11-11, 2-4) with 6 points.
