Man charged with sexually abusing teen in Mt. Prospect

A Skokie man arrested earlier this month in Mount Prospect was ordered held on $100,000 bail Thursday on charges he sexually abused a teenage girl.

Nahd Mallo, 28, was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse. If convicted, he faces a maximum of seven years in prison.

Mallo met the girl in 2014 at the Northbrook house of worship they both attended, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Alyssa Grissom. That year, he friended her on social media, which resulted in them exchanging hundreds of messages, Grissom said.

In July 2015, when the girl was 16, they became "boyfriend and girlfriend" and started communicating by phone, Grissom said.

Beginning in August 2015, Mallo met the girl near her home, usually in the parking lot behind it or down the street. After the teen got a job at a Mount Prospect store, Mallo met her there after her shift, Grissom said.

Between December and January, they engaged in sexual conduct in a nearby parking garage, Grissom said. On Jan. 2, a Mount Prospect police officer found the couple dressing in the rear seat of Mallo's car, Grissom said. The officer contacted the girl's parents and took Mallo to the police station.

Cook County Judge Joseph Cataldo ordered Mallo have no contact with the girl or anyone under 18.

Mallo next appears in court Feb. 5.
