Chicago Muskie Show returns to Sears Centre Jan. 8-10

The Chicago Muskie Show returns to the Sears Centre this weekend after drawing about 10,000 attendees in its inaugural appearance last year.

It will feature the latest in muskie-fishing innovations, offer visits with the pros to learn tactics and strategies firsthand, and give attendees a chance to evaluate thousands of products. It brings name brands, speakers and retailers together for three days of networking and education.

The event runs from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, at 5333 Prairie Stone Parkway in Hoffman Estates. Tickets are $12 at the door or $10 in advance at O'Reilly Auto Part stores.

The event's New Product Showcase debuts the upcoming season's newest innovations from all the major muskie manufacturers. Attendees will have the opportunity to evaluate each new product and vote for the prestigious "Best of Show" awards in multiple product categories. Manufacturers often have special offers for attendees.

The show also features a wide variety of 30-minute workshops. At these clinics, the instructors will be anglers and guides from across the Midwest who want to share their experience and knowledge of the sport. They will cover topics including specific patterns, tackle modifications, maintaining rods and reels and a "how to" approaches to different aspects of muskie fishing.

Llungen Lures again will be hosting the free "Kid's Build a Lure Event" at 10 a.m. Sunday, with dozens of different colors and options for beads, blades and skirts to make a personalized lure.
