Packers promote former NDSU RB John Crockett to roster

FARGO, N.D. (AP) - The Green Bay Packers have signed a North Dakota State running back to the team's active roster.

John Crockett was originally signed by the Packers as a non-drafted free agent in May. He has spent the season on Green Bay's practice squad, but was promoted to the active roster Thursday as the team released running back Alonzo Harris.

The 6-foot, 217-pound rookie played in 46 games with 17 starts in college and registered three consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons. He will wear No. 38 for the Packers.

The transactions were announced by Ted Thompson, the Packers executive vice president, general manager and director of football operations.
