Fox Lake man named November Hometown Hero

The Round Lake Area Exchange Club has named U.S. Army Specialist Thomas Bruce Jr. from Fox Lake as the November Hometown Hero.

Bruce currently lives in Georgia. He was registered for this honor by his wife, Brittni, and his sister-in-law, Kariann Hill, a village of Round Lake Beach police officer.

Bruce graduated from Grant Community High School in 2004. He has been in the Army for more than two years and is a wheeled vehicle repairer. He and his wife have four children: Thomas, Ambrya, Tannean and Noel.

With the support of this month's sponsor, NICASA, Bruce's "Hanging with the Heroes" care package will include beef jerky, sunflower seeds, peanuts and other snacks, a personalized "Hanging with the Heroes" T-shirt donated by ArtRageous of Hainesville, and letters from Round Lake Area Unit 116 students.

The Round Lake Area Exchange Club will present a plaque on his behalf Wednesday, Nov. 25, at their meeting in Round Lake.

The Round Lake Area Exchange Club needs your help in getting local heroes signed up. Any and all military personnel serving overseas or in the U.S. from any of the Round Lake-area communities, Hainesville, Fox Lake, Ingleside or surrounding areas qualify for the program. You can register your loved ones by going to www.rlaexchange.org/hero.
