West Aurora students to put on 'The Humor Games' parody this week

West Aurora High School's Drama Troupe 2013 will be performing Dean O'Carroll's "The Humor Games," a loving parody of the popular dystopian trilogy, "The Hunger Games," by Suzanne Collins.

The show covers all three books in the trilogy and features everyone's favorite Hunger Games characters.

Performances will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19 to Saturday, Nov. 21, at the school auditorium, 1201 W. New York St., Aurora. Tickets are $8. Visit sd129.thundertix.com/events.

In the show, Katskills Wintergreen takes a pie in the face for her sister, Dim, and enters herself into the Humor Games, a comedy show to the death. Her knack for impressions makes her a popular tribute, alongside her district companion Tweeta Mellish, who ropes her into a romantic comedy to help keep them alive. However, her impressions make her unpopular with the evil president Nobiz L. Shobiz, who wants nothing more than for Katskills to fail. With the help of her mentor, Ayndfitch Abercrombie, and her longtime friend Gable Sevenhouse, Katskills finds herself in the middle of a resistance movement against the government and President Shobiz. In this slapstick parody, who will have the last laugh?
