DuPage Foundation Welcomes Megan Shebik to Grant Committee

Megan and her husband Steve (who serves on the Foundation's Financial Operations Committee) have two donor-advised funds with the Foundation: the Shebik Family Fund for Basic Human Needs and the History DuPage Fund. The funds were established with the Foundation in 1996 and 2012, respectively, and speak to the philanthropic belief and connection to the community that the Shebik family has.

“Megan's connection to the Foundation through her family's donor-advised funds makes her a natural addition to the Grant Committee,” said Barb Szczepaniak, Foundation director of programs. “Her membership on the Grant Committee is a win-win not only for the Grant Committee but for the Foundation as well. We are pleased that she is joining our group and look forward to her insight into the grant process.”

Shebik earned her bachelor of science degree in economics from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. She holds professional designations of chartered property casualty underwriter and certified professional insurance woman. She was previously employed with Kemper Insurance Company where she was a commercial lines property underwriter and supervisor.

Shebik, who is a stay-at-home mom, spends a great deal of her free time volunteering. She has volunteered in numerous agencies in the community including the Girl Scouts of DuPage County Council, Three Fires Council Boy Scouts, the Wheaton Junior Woman's Club and the Wheaton Warrenville South High School Parent Association. She has held many positions within these organizations during the past 20 years.

“It is important to help others,” Shebik said. “There are increasingly more people who need help and more needs to be met. I am honored to work with the DuPage Foundation to help address these needs.”
