Buona Beef may come to Algonquin in spring

Fans of Buona Beef may soon have a spot along the north end of the Randall Road corridor to satisfy their cravings.

For years, the restaurant has been a favorite of beef, hot dog, burger and french fry lovers closer to the city.

But now, the company is gaining a presence in the Fox Valley. Buona Beef opened in St. Charles this summer at 2425 W. Main St.

Now Buona Beef is looking at building and opening on a now-vacant lot on Randall Road in Algonquin.

It is proposed to go just to the south of the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant and to the north of Algonquin State Bank, on the east side of Randall at 461 S. Randall.

For years, there has been talk of building and opening a Village Squire restaurant at that location, which has been owned by George Karas, who runs the Squire restaurants.

However, plans for the Buona Beef now are proceeding in that spot instead, said Katie Parkhurst, senior planner for the village of Algonquin.

The restaurant's plans got a positive recommendation from the village's zoning commission this month. Commissioners recommended a slight change to the outside of the restaurant, but approved the plans, she said.

Now the plans for Buona Beef are expected to head to the Algonquin village board for approval on Tuesday, Oct. 6, Parkhurst said.

If the Buona Beef plans receive approval, the fast food-style restaurant should be under construction later this year, she said. The estimated opening date for Buona Beef would be early next spring, Parkhurst said.

Craft-Ober:

The Claddagh Irish Pub and Restaurant in Geneva is hosting a Craft-Ober event next month, featuring a sampling of craft beers.

The second annual Craft-Ober will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 16.

The special event will feature a night of beer tasting.

There also will be meet and greets with representatives from craft brewers such as Two Brothers, Lagunitas, Ole Smokey, Moonshine and more.

The Claddagh Irish Pub is located at 1702 Commons Drive in the Geneva Commons shopping center along Randall Road.

In addition to events such as the Craft-Ober fest, the Claddagh often holds special events for customers.

Throughout the month of October, the restaurant and pub will feature live music on most Saturday nights.

On the first Saturday of the month, Oct. 3, Matt Stillman will take the stage from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

On Oct. 10, the Claddagh will feature live music from the Ry Petermann Band from 7 to 11 p.m.

John Boda will take the stage on Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.
