Schaumburg Toyota holds celebration to kick off expansion

After nearly four decades in its original facility, Resnick Automotive Group is starting construction on a new, state-of-the-art showroom facility to house its Schaumburg Toyota dealership in Schaumburg.

Ryan Companies US Inc. launched the construction project on Resnick Automotive Group's 67,000-square-foot, replacement facility at 875 W. Golf Road. The new Schaumburg Toyota dealership will replace the original showroom, which dated back to 1978 on the same site.

"We've enjoyed a long and successful history at this well-established Schaumburg location, and look forward to continuing that history in a brand new facility," said Lee Wulbert, COO of Resnick Automotive Group.

A ceremonial project groundbreaking including project team members and Schaumburg village officials was held Friday at the site. Demolition of the existing structure started at the end of August. Construction of the new facility is expected to be completed by midyear 2016. During construction, the dealership will operate at 125 W. Higgins Road in Hoffman Estates.

Resnick Automotive Group's dealership and service center that sits on a 5.68-acre site will grow from 31,000 to 67,000 square feet with the new $13 million facility.

The new project will include a 14,000-square-foot showroom, a larger service center area, offices, storage and staff break room and lounge.

The dealership is part of a dynamic cluster of automotive dealerships along Golf Road in Schaumburg, officials from the company said. A special design feature of the new dealership will be a covered outdoor showroom, according to a news release. This area of the dealership, with an extended roofline and sophisticated snow melt equipment, will allow 10 or more cars to be displayed for the outdoor showroom experience.

Ryan Companies based in Naperville is handling the expansion. It is the second project the firm has taken on for the Resnick Group. Ryan Companies handled the construction of a 31,400-square-foot Mercedes-Benz dealership and showroom in St. Charles several years ago.

The Resnick Group also owns Woodfield Lexus, Midtown Toyota/Scion and owns and operates Certified Collision Center in Schaumburg.

"Just as it did with its new Mercedes dealership four years ago, Resnick Auto Group is taking the automaker's brand dealership standards to the next level to enhance brand identity and maximize the overall customer experience," said Adam Zarek, project manager of Ryan Companies. "That is resulting in an efficiently designed and sophisticated looking facility that will help create a great first and lasting impression."
