Schaumburg Boomers' season ends in loss

NORMAL - The Schaumburg Boomers ended the 2015 season with a 3-1 loss to the Normal CornBelters on Sunday afternoon.

The day ended up being historic as Michael Valadez became the first player in team history to appear at all nine positions in the same contest. Valadez opened his tour on the mound, and ended up taking the loss after allowing 2 first-inning runs. Valadez did record a pair of strikeouts in the frame. Schaumburg totaled 10 hits but could not overcome the early deficit, bouncing into three double plays along the way.

Every position player on the roster played in the game and a pair of pitchers even record pinch hit appearances. Eddie Cody worked 7 innings in relief of Valadez, allowing just 1 run while striking out six. Cody even recorded a hit at the plate in the eighth inning, his first as a pro. TJ Bennett finished 3-for-3 in the contest.

The Boomers ended the year with a record of 40-56. Season tickets for 2016 are available now.
