Consumers Credit Union Wraps-up 2015 Community Outreach Summer Season

Waukegan, IL, August 12, 2015: Consumers Credit Union (CCU; $680 M. Waukegan, IL), is wrapping up another summer filled with community outreach, participating in an exciting lineup of 9 community events. The Member-owned credit union participated in an array of festivals, parades and community celebrations.

"Summer is a great time to show support and get involved with the communities we serve." noted Sean M. Rathjen, CCU's President and CEO. "The long days and warm nights coupled with a wide variety of community events presents the perfect opportunity for our team to spend time at community events with family and friends."

This year's community outreach schedule began with the GLMV Chamber Block Party on April 12th, followed by the Round Lake Area Memorial Day Parade on May 26th. The credit union also participated in several neighborhood events, such as Round Lake Beach's BeachFest in late June, Mundelein Community Days and Waukegan's Day of Hope. In the first two weeks of August, the credit union participated in the Most Blessed Trinity's Tri-Parish Kermes in Waukegan and Gurnee Days.

CCU volunteers handed out candy, CCU shirts, tote bags along with Earnest piggy banks; promoting the importance of saving for children. Team CCU is active in fundraising, too. The credit union's walking team raised nearly $3,000 for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event held in Waukegan. CCU also made a sizable cash contribution to the March of Dimes organization in April.
