Ram, Heart of Marine to host homeless veterans for Cub, Sox game

The Heart Of A Marine Foundation, headquartered in Elk Grove Village, serves all branches of the United States Armed Forces. On Sunday, Aug. 16, they are teaming up with The Ram Restaurant in Schaumburg to bring homeless veterans an afternoon out.

The idea to do something for homeless veterans came from Ram Restaurant/Schaumburg general manager Jeff Murray.

"I wanted to do something for veterans that have given so much, and fallen on hard times. I am personally blessed, and whatever is in my ability to do, I am honored." Murray stated. "If I can provide an afternoon of food and some fun time off while watching the game, consider it done."

Murray extended the invitation to the Eddie Beard Transitional Home for Veterans, and the event day was chosen by the Eddie Beard residents; the last game in the Cubs/Sox series.

"We couldn't believe our ears! We are so grateful for this invitation, and so excited for this occasion," Eddie Beard management stated. "This will be a 'Wow' day for us."

On Sunday, 15 residents of the Eddie Beard Transitional Home for Veterans will have a day at the ballpark, Ram Restaurant style; a private event room, large screen TV's, crate your own nacho and hot dog bar, baseball trivia contest, and whole lot more.
