Vernon Hills Summer Celebration is heating up

Visitors to the Vernon Hills Summer Celebration braved the heat to enjoy Saturday's mix of food, music and entertainment in Century Park.

The annual fest runs through Sunday, July 19, in the park at 1001 Lakeview Parkway. The four-day schedule is packed with a range of activities, such as carnival rides, musical performances, a car and bike show, bingo, food and more.

Throughout the weekend, there is a kid's corner with face-painting, balloon artists and free crafts, and Sunday, children will have the chance to interact with their favorite animals in a petting zoo.

The 2nd Annual Car Show is Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Center Drive in Vernon Hills. The festival grounds will be open from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
