Gary Sinise, Rockin' for the Troops return to Cantigny July 18

Rockin' for the Troops has become one of the premier troop support events of the year, reaching a capacity sellout crowd of more than 11,000.

This year's concert will be Saturday, July 18, at Cantigny Park, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton.

The 10th annual concert features actor Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band covering hits from every genre, demonstrating honor, gratitude and rock 'n' roll. This year's lineup also includes The Voices, a Motown tribute band; Maggie Speaks, a cover band featuring hits from the '50s to the latest Top 40; and the Chicago Blues All-stars, a musical revue that features some of the most talented, entertaining and legendary artists on the scene today.

The family friendly event will have food concessions as well as patriotic items for sale.

Gates open at noon, with main stage entertainment beginning at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and are available at RockinForTheTroops.org and participating Jewel Food Stores.

Each $25 ticket can pay the shipping costs on one of the comfort packages Operation Support Our Troops-America sends to U.S. military service members serving in harm's way, or contributes to the funding of other OSOT-America programs, including:

• Helping support Families of the Fallen, monthly meetings and quarterly grief healing seminars in addition to the collaboration seminar Leap of Faith with the Army Golden Knights, which provides a growth experience based around a tandem sky-dive.

• Research and implementation of new treatments for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and traumatic brain injury.

• Support of returning veterans to the workforce by providing resume help, interview preparation and access to job fairs to help veterans and their spouses find employment after serving their country.

Rockin' for the Troops is the annual fundraiser for OSOT-America. Besides Rockin' for the Troops, OSOT-America will participate in the Fourth of July Parade in Hinsdale and will sponsor a Healing Field Nov. 6 to 12.

The mission of OSOT-America is to support the morale and well-being of American forces by providing comfort, resources and education to all involved both while deployed and upon the soldier's return. As a volunteer-based nonprofit organization, OSOT-America provides the opportunity for community members to express their appreciation and offer support for our troops. Engaged in the longest war of our country's history, and with our servicemen and -women completing multiple tours of duty, OSOT-America is committed to showing them that "We Have NOT Forgotten."

Volunteer opportunities are available. Visit osotamerica.org for information. OSOT-America began at the dining room table of president and founder Deborah Rickert, who wanted to support our troops with needed supplies while they are serving their country. OSOT-America has grown into a nonprofit charity with a four-star rating from Charity Navigator and a four-star rating from Great Non-Profits.
