Mt. Prospect Parks celebrates 60 years

The Mount Prospect Park District celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2015 with "Something Fun for Everyone" since 1955.

The Sizzling Summer Spectacular Concert/Event Series begins Thursday, June 25, and runs Thursdays through July 30, with the exception of July 2. Activities begin at 7 p.m. and concerts start at 7:30 p.m. Concerts and events take place at the Veterans Memorial Bandshell, 411 S. Maple St.

Bring your blanket/lawn chair and enjoy a night of free music and events. Concessions are available for purchase. Performers include:

• June 25, Rock Around the Clock: Revisit the year it all began - 1955. Listen to '50s classics from the Ragtops Band. Enjoy games, crafts, dance contests and trivia. Dress in '50s fashion and win a prize.

• July 9, Chicago Tribute Anthology: CTA is a seven-piece horn band dedicated to performing the music of one of the most popular and enduring bands of all time, Chicago. Enjoy "Color My World," "Just You N' Me," "If You Leave Me Now" and many more.

• July 16, "Celebrate Summer" Dance Party featuring HiFi Superstar. The band will crank out modern, pop rock.

• July 23, 7th Heaven: Sing along to 30 songs in 30 minutes from the Beatles to Bon Jovi to Journey to U2.

• July 30, Bandshell Movie Night featuring "Mulan." Festivities begin at 7:30 p.m.

• On Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Bandshell, the park district joins the police department to celebrate National Night Out.
