Ex-Bear Ray McDonald arrested again

Just two days after he was arrested on charges of misdemeanor domestic abuse and child endangerment, which got him released by the Bears, defensive end Ray McDonald was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of violating the restraining order from his Monday arrest.

Ordered not to have contact with his former fiancee after Monday's incident, McDonald allegedly went to her Santa Clara. California, residence Wednesday afternoon. He was arrested without incident a short time later at 5:35 p.m. local time at a Togo's sandwich shop in Santa Clara.

The 6-foot-4, 290-pound McDonald also was arrested last August on suspicion of domestic abuse for contact with his ex-fiancee, although no charges were brought in that case. Less than four months later, in December, McDonald was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.

That prompted the San Francisco 49ers, the only team he had played for in eight NFL seasons, to release him, citing a “pattern of behavior.” McDonald has not been charged in that case, although it remains open.
