Of course, Hillary is qualified

Having to answer Carl Palash's letter of April 4th, appears to be an insult to my intelligence, in fact, his double standard rather floors me in today's world.

As a woman and as a critical-thinking liberal, I'm deeply offended by Mr. Palash's reasoning that Hillary is not qualified to be president.

Is he aware that she co-founded Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families in 1977 and became the first female chair of the Legal Services Corp. In 1979 her law firm twice listed her as one of the hundred most influential lawyers in America -- not to mention her becoming first lady, senator and secretary of state.

Yes, her husband was impeached because of a personal and thoughtless act -- the fact is, during Bill Clinton's tenure as president, this country reveled in an economic recovery not seen since the end of World War II.

As for Hillary using taxpayer money to cover the world, that's part of the job, cementing relations with the hundred some-odd countries to avoid costly wars that take precious lives. I have yet to hear of a male secretary of state accused of spending taxpayer money on travel!

You may feel President Obama is below the bar and that is your choice -- but don't take away the gifted earnings of a woman who has spent her life serving American interests here as well as abroad.

Perhaps you forgot when George W. Bush was first elected President, Dick Cheney was requested to appear in the president's office each morning to help decipher each night's news bulletins -- but then again, Bush was a man and it didn't matter how much he knew. It was all right for him to learn on the job.
