District 129 board approves 3 new school administrators

On March 16, West Aurora Unit District 129 school board approved the appointments of three new building principals.

The new appointments are Kathy Kostos as principal of McCleery Elementary and Dr. Terry Collete as principal of Hope D. Wall School.

Lastly, with the retirement of Jefferson Middle School principal Pat Cross at the end of the 2014-15 school year, Shawn Munos has been approved as principal of Jefferson Middle School. All appointments are for the 2015-16 school year.

Kostos currently serves as the director of assessment for District 129. Prior to that, she has served as assistant principal at McCleery Elementary, second- and fifth-grade teacher at Fearn Elementary, fifth-grade teacher at Hall Elementary, and a math curriculum specialist in District 129.

Kostos obtained her master's degrees in educational administration and elementary education from Northern Illinois University. Kostos has a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Angelo State University.

Collete currently serves as an exceptional needs transition teacher at Hope D. Wall School. Prior to that, he has also served as a teacher on special assignment at District 129.

Collete obtained his doctorate of education degree in curriculum and instruction from Aurora University. He also received his master's degree in educational leadership from Aurora University. Collete has a bachelor's degree in trainable mentally handicapped.

Munos is currently the assistant principal at Jefferson Middle School. Prior to that, some of her roles have included assistant principal, dean, and English teacher at West Aurora High School.

Munos obtained a master's degree in education and educational leadership from National Lewis University and Aurora University, respectively. Munos has a bachelor's degree in English from Iowa State University. Munos is a graduate of West Aurora High School.
