Endorsement: Anderson, Hitzke, Specht for District 120 board

Mundelein Consolidated High School District 120 has come a long way from the budget deficits it faced almost a decade ago.

Solid fiscal management has the district back on sound financial footing.

The district is moving forward with plans to build a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) addition that should better prepare students for life after high school.

District 120 also hired a new superintendent, Kevin Myers, in 2014.

Voters have a small, but strong group of four candidates to choose from to fill three spots on the board.

As incumbents Al Hitzke and Joanne Anderson have helped keep the district in the black financially and chart a positive course for school.

Edwin Specht has a wealth of experience as a past District 120 board president who chose not to run for re-election in 2013 but is returning now.

Jane Siegal, who recently retired from the district, is passionate about helping students, faculty and staff succeed.

Hitzke, Specht and Anderson, though, have direct experience with the issues that have kept the district back on course, both educationally and financially. They are endorsed.
