Heartland offers reduced adoption fees during February

Heartland Animal Shelter is celebrating a Month of Love in February with reduced adoption fees for mature dogs and cats, and ones that have been longtime shelter residents.

Dogs at least 5 years old, or who have been waiting a long time for a home can be adopted for $100. Miss Liberty, a hound/retriever mix; Sydney, a cocker spaniel mix; and Wallee, a Shih Tzu mix are just a few of the dogs available at the reduced rate.

Adoption fees have been reduced to $50 for cats eight years and older, or ones at Heartland way too long. Loosie, a calico; Zeus, a domestic shorthair gray and white cat; and Kitty, a domestic shorthair brown tabby mix are among felines looking forward to taking long cat naps in their new homes.

Adoption fees include spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchip, 30 days of insurance and a two-week medical checkup.

Heartland Animal Shelter is at 2975 Milwaukee Ave., Northbrook. Hours are Tuesday-Friday 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 12 to4 p.m. Dogs and cats can be viewed online at www.heartlandanimalshelter.net.
