One killed in fiery West Chicago crash

One person was killed and two others were injured Friday night in a fiery head-on crash in West Chicago.

West Chicago police and fire personnel were called to the crash scene at Route 59 and Gary's Mill Road at approximately 11 p.m. to find one of the vehicles engulfed in flames, according to a news release from West Chicago police. Officers found the deceased inside the car, according to the report.

Two bystanders pulled two male adult victims from the second car by the time emergency personnel arrived. They were taken to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. The two are expected to survive, police said Saturday night.

Police and the DuPage County Coroner's Office would not release the name and age of the person killed.

West Chicago police, with the help of the DuPage County Accident Reconstruction Team, are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident. Firefighters remained at the intersection until 6:45 a.m. Saturday assisting police.

No one has been cited in the crash as of Saturday evening, police said.
