Three men charged with stealing iPads from Lake Forest Academy in 2013

Three suburban men have been charged with stealing approximately 400 Apple iPad tablet computers from Lake Forest Academy in June, 2013, authorities said.

Nicholas R. Roiniotis, 25, of Palatine, Natan D. Khanania, 25, of Hanover Park, and Anam M. Qadri, 31, of Roselle, were arrested and charged by Lake Forest Police on Sept. 4 and Sept. 5, authorities said. Roiniotis and Khanania have been charged with burglary of a school and felony theft of school property. Qadri is charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to commit theft.

Detectives have recovered several stolen iPads that were sold to unwitting customers over the Internet and in person, authorities said. All three men also registered stolen iPads to themselves, authorities said.

Roiniotis worked as a security guard at Lake Forest Academy at the time of the theft, authorities said. The iPads were taken from the school in the early morning hours of June 11, authorities said.

Roiniotis is in custody at the Lake County jail on $500,000 bail. Khanania is free from jail after posting the required 10 percent of his $300,000 bond. Qadri is free after posting the required 10 percent of his $200,000 bail.

Court dates for the three are unknown at this time.
