Boomers blank Greys 9-0

The Schaumburg Boomers improved to a season-high 18 games over .500 with a 9-0 blanking of the visiting Frontier Greys before 5,788 on Saturday night.

Schaumburg wasted no time in taking the lead, scoring 3 runs in the second inning, only 1 of which was earned. The Boomers scored in four different innings, putting the game out of reach with 4 runs in the sixth, 3 scoring on a double from Gerard Hall, who added a triple and drove home 4. Alexi Colon also had an RBI single in the sixth and drove in a pair on the night.

Charle Rosario was the beneficiary of the run support. Rosario improved to 2-0 by working 6 innings and striking out seven. Justin Erasmus collected his first save by striking out four in the final 3 innings. Schaumburg totaled 10 hits and drew a season-high 10 walks.

Schaumburg (52-34), winners of four in a row, have a magic number of 6 with 10 games to play to clinch a second consecutive playoff appearance. The series concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.
