Boomers top Crushers 2-1

The Schaumburg Boomers claimed a fifth consecutive victory by sliding past the Lake Erie Crushers 2-1 on Monday night.

All of the offense came in the third inning.

Lake Erie scored just 1 run on 5 hits in the top half following a baserunning mistake. The run was the only score against starter Eddie Cody. He worked a career-high 7 innings and scattered 6 hits with a walk and 4 strikeouts, improving to 2-1.

Schaumburg (36-26) scored twice in the bottom of the third to account for the final. Alexi Colon tied the game with a single through the right side to bring home Gerard Hall. Tyler Sciacca provided the difference with a two-out single to score Michael Valadez.

Colon, Valadez and Sciacca accounted for 2 hits apiece, the only 6 Boomers hits of the game. Dexter Price worked the ninth for his 14th save and the 30th of his two-year career with the team.
