Ackerman solid in Boomers' victory

FLORENCE, Ky. - The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers opened a road series at Florence with a 5-1 win on Tuesday night.

Hunter Ackerman bounced back in a big way, working 7 shutout innings. Ackerman did not allow a hit until the fourth inning and finished with 5 strikeouts. Jordan Dean handed Schaumburg a 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly in the second to score Tyler Sciacca, who finished with 2 hits in the contest. Joe De Pinto drilled a 2-run homer in the seventh to extend the lead, his first with the team. De Pinto tallied 3 hits as the Boomers collected 11.

Dean added an RBI single in the eighth and Gerard Hall logged an RBI double in the ninth to cap the scoring.
