Wheaton Band Festival plays in Memorial Park

Wheaton's 15th annual band festival opened Friday night with performances by the Chicago Brass Band and Swing Low Sweet Cadillac.

Free performances scheduled for Saturday include the Fox Valley Concert Band at 6 p.m., the Nite Hawks at 7 p.m. and the Northshore Concert Band at 8 p.m.

All performances take place at the band shell in Memorial Park, 208 W. Union Avenue.

Children also will have a chance to explore instruments and music at an instrument "petting zoo" that will be set up at the festival Saturday.
