3 injured in Crystal Lake rollover crash
Three people have been hospitalized after a rollover crash in Crystal Lake that slowed traffic for several hours on Saturday morning.
Emergency crews from the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue and Crystal Lake Police Department responded to a crash near the intersection of Route 176 and Route 14 at 10:10 a.m. Saturday morning, according to a news release.
An initial investigation showed that a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer was exiting a private driveway on the north side of Route 176 when a 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck collided with the Blazer on the driver side and tipped it over, police said.
The driver of the Blazer, Zandra Iandola, 20, and passenger, Kayla Brehmer, 23, both of McHenry, had to be extricated from the vehicle by fire rescue crews. Both were transported to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock with serious, but not life-threatening injuries, according to the release.
The driver of the pickup, Donald Mecko, 73, of Palatine, was also transported to Centegra Hospital.
Traffic was diverted from the area for two hours while crews dealt with the crash.
No citations have been issued yet, but police said the crash was still under investigation.
