Boomers' winning streak ends

O'FALLON, Mo. - The Schaumburg Boomers saw a five-game winning streak come to a close with a 14-3 loss at the hands of the River City Rascals on Wednesday night.

River City plated six runs in the bottom of the first inning to take control. Justin Vasquez drilled a three-run homer in the third inning to pull the Boomers within 6-3. The Rascals added fourth in the fourth to chase starter Cal Bowling. Bowling lasted just 3.2 innings, walking six and hitting one. Kris Singh finished the contest, working the final 4.1 innings. Jordan Dean led the offense with a pair of hits.

Schaumburg (26-20) can still win the series Thursday night. RHP Eddie Cody (0-0, 1.69) starts for the Boomers in the series finale opposite Kyle Brady (0-1, 6.43).
