Kaneland announces administrative changes for 2014-15

Kaneland School District 302 recently announced several administrative changes for the 2014-15 school year.

At the April 28 meeting, the board approved the appointment of Julia Cloat to be assistant principal at Kaneland John Stewart and Kaneland John Shields for the 2014-15 school year. Cloat is currently assistant principal at Kaneland John Stewart and Response to Intervention Coordinator.

The board also approved the appointment of Patrick Raleigh as an assistant principal/teacher for Kaneland McDole Elementary School beginning July 1, 2014. He has served as a teacher in Forest Ridge School District 142 for the past six years. Raleigh completed his master's degree at Concordia University in Chicago along with an administration certificate.

The five candidates participated in several interview groups on multiple days including staff members, administrators, and the Superintendent of Schools.

Candidates were also asked to complete a writing task based on the parent satisfaction survey data that was evaluated by a panel of administrators. Raleigh emerged as the top candidate at the end of this thorough interview process. He was selected for a number of excellent reasons including his successful teaching career, vision for a quality education in Kaneland, passion for teaching and learning, and communication skills.

Raleigh will begin his contract at a salary of $56,000 plus benefits, and will assume his position as Kaneland McDole Elementary School Assistant Principal on July 1, 2014.

On April 28, the Kaneland Board of Education also approved the resignation of Erika Schlichter, Director of Education Services for 6-12. Schlichter is leaving to assume the post of Chief Academic Officer in Huntley School District 158.

Finally, Kaneland School District 302 is continuing the search for an assistant principal/early childhood coordinator for Blackberry Creek Elementary School. Interviews continue and we anticipate making an announcement at an upcoming board of education meeting.
