Chemical waste collection in Lake County

The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County hosts a household chemical waste collection event from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at the Fox Lake streets department facility, 216 Washington Ave., Fox Lake. Appointments are not required. Collections are for residential waste only and business waste will not be accepted. Accepted materials include: aerosol products; antifreeze and motor oil; fertilizers/herbicides/pesticides; furniture stripper and varnishes; household cleaners; and, oil based paint and paint removers. Latex paint, controlled substances and batteries, and smoke detectors are among items that are not accepted. All SWALCO collection events are free and for Illinois residents only.
